Junior Diggs was born on November 6, 1942 to the late June Hampton Diggs and Mary Ellen Miller-Diggs-Moody. At the time of his transition on October 7, 2020, he was 77 years old. Junior attended the Sumter County Public School System, worked Puck Wood, drove tractor trailer trucks and operated heavy equipment, which was is favorite. He was baptized at Rafting Creek Baptist Church. Throughout his years, Junior was a dedicated hard worker. He worked throughout Sumter and Kershaw Counties as a lumberman with his own business. After many years of that, he landed a job as a heavy equipment operator for Armstrong Construction Company responsible for building many of our highways of today. He eventually was medically retired around 2005. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife for over 57 years, Annie Mae Workman Diggs; children, Annie Deloris Workman-Adams (Albertis) of Pinewood, Robert Junior Diggs (Jessie Mae) of Pooler, GA, Mamie Ellen Diggs-Bennett (Melvin James) of Sumter, Martha Marie Diggs-Davis (Eric T.) of Sumter, Constance Nicole-Diggs-Gilmore (Irvin A.) of Dalzell; four sisters, Bellma Diggs-Davis of Patterson, N. J., Carolyn Diggs, Marion Diggs and Beulah Diggs-Dennis (Leroy) all of Rembert; one step brother, Jeremiah Moody of Sumter; two step sisters, Mary Moody of Sumter, Juanita Dinkins of New Haven, CT; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives, love ones and friends. In accordance with COVID 19 guidelines, the family is requesting no visitation at the home. Private viewing for family will be 1:00 – 2:00 p. m. with public viewing from 2:00 – 5:00 p. m., Wednesday, October 14, 2020 in the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter. Graveside Services will be held 12:00 noon, Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Rafting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 3860 Highway 261 North, Rembert, with the Rev. Melvin Mack, Pastor, Elder James E. Williams, eulogist. The procession will leave from the home at 11:30 a. m.
