Johnnie Mae McIntyre Rouse, 92, was born October 26, 1927 in Pender County, NC to the late David and Katie Hill McIntyre. She departed this life on February 6, 2020 in Baltimore, Maryland. She attended Pender County Training School until the 10th grade. She met her future husband, the late Bill Rouse in Wilmington, NC in 1944. They later married and to this union ten children were born. Johnnie Mae and Bill moved to Baltimore, MD in 1946, where they made a home and raised their family. Johnnie Mae was truly multi-faceted, a woman of many talents. Professionally she worked as a domestic, a sales rep for Lucky Heart Cosmetics and at the Baltimore Canning Company in Fell’s Point, MD. After her husband, Bill retired in 1985, she returned to his home of Lynchburg and established a second residence. Lynchburg was no different. She welcomed, entertained and fed everyone just as she had in Baltimore. She is survived by: her sons, William (Janet) McIntyre, James (Gail) Rouse, Chris and Walter Rouse; daughters, Katie (Clover) Maycock, Audrey Ann (Sammie) Greene, Delphine (Clifton) Carter and Janet Rouse; seventeen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family is receiving relatives and friends at the home, 641 Wells Church Road, Lynchburg. Visitation will be 10:00 a. m. to 11:00 a. m., Saturday, February 15, 2020, in the John Wesley Williams Sr., Memorial Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Inc. 821 North Main Street, Sumter. Funeral services at 11 a. m., with the Rev. Carl McIntyre, Officiating, Eulogist. Burial will be in the Church of God By Faith Cemetery, Lynchburg.
