Alice E. Rembert Nathaniel, 87, departed this earthly life and entered her eternal rest on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at her home. Born September 28, 1931 in Sumter, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie and Mary Bracey Rembert. She attended the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age, she accepted Christ and was a lifelong member of St. Paul A. M. E. Church-Shaw, where she was a Sunday School teacher, worked with the Junior Ushers, member of the Senior Usher Board, and the Women Missionary Society. She loved her church and church family and served faithfully until her health declined. She was also a member of the Delaine Center Senior Program where she enjoyed socializing and playing bingo. She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters, Linda N. Jackson, Pamela Nathaniel (Melvin); three sons, Samuel L. Nathaniel, Walter (Carrie) Nathaniel, Dwayne M. Nathaniel, all of Sumter; three brothers, James (Gloria) Rembert of New Jersey, George (Dorothy) Rembert of Connecticut, John Rembert, Jr. of Sumter; one brother-in-law; four sisters-in-law; two god daughters; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 1026 Farmers Circle, Sumter. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 19, 2019, 3 p. m. from the St. Paul A. M. E. Church - Shaw, 1495 North St. Paul Church Road, Sumter, with the Rev. Eric R. Dent, pastor, eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the church at 2 p. m. for viewing until the hour of service. The funeral procession will leave at 2:20 p. m. from the home. Burial will be in the St. Paul A. M. E. Church – Shaw Cemetery.
