Rosetta Amos Holliday, 89, daughter of the late Nathaniel and Susan Amos, was born on July 15, 1929 in Sumter. She departed this earthly life on June 17, 2019 at Pruitt Health Care, Columbia. She matriculated the Sumter Public School System and worked as a house keeper for most of her early adulthood. On February 17, 1945, she joined the late Henry I. Holliday in holy matrimony and to this union thirteen children were born: Mary and Martha Holliday (both deceased), Marlene (Lester) Billie, Joseph (Mary - deceased) Holliday, Susie Holliday, Lillie (Jeremiah) Holliday, Henry (Dawn) Holliday, Diane (Gene - deceased) McDaniel, Henrietta (Phillip) Gibson, Gail (James) Pearson, Wilbert (Pat) Holliday, Willis (Megan) Holliday and Jacqueline Holliday. Pastor Earthly Haskell, Jr. (son-in-kind) was a personal pastor and friend to Mother Holliday whom he adopted as one of the Mothers of the Church. Pastor Haskell spent countless hours with her sharing the Word, songs and laughter. Mother Holliday was an inspiration to Pastor Haskell and to the Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church who loved her dearly. She is also survived by: her sisters, Mary Levine, Louella Johnson and Barbara Perry; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to cherish her memories. The Family will receive visitors on Friday, June 21, 2019, 6 – 8 p. m., at the Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church, 2721 Rainbow Drive, West Columbia. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 22, 2019, 12 noon, at John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with Pastor Earthly Haskell, officiating, eulogist. The family request that all donations, flowers and cards be directed to Williams Funeral Home.
