On Tuesday, April 23, 2019, heaven opened up and welcomed one of its son home in the spirit of Bobby “Sport” Peoples. Born November 16, 1958, in Sumter County, he was the son of the late Robert and Carolyn Elizabeth Peoples. At a young age he started driving trucks, then shortly after he began driving for Bill Pinkney and The Original Drifters. After living many years in New Jersey, he moved back to South Carolina, where he worked several industrial jobs until the decline of his health. Bobby had a love for music and was well known for his talent on the drums. He played with multiple bands such as Brown Ash and Everyday Peoples, which was started by him and some friends. He leaves to cherish his memories: two children, Shaun Davis of Sumter and Alexis Atkinson of Scranton, PA; one sister, Patricia Peoples of Sumter; three brothers, Robert Peoples Jr. of the home, Darryl Peoples (Regina) of Columbia and Kevin Peoples, Sr. (Tonya) of Sumter; one grandson, Shaun, Jr.; four granddaughters, Kaelin, Jada, Aaliyah and Riley; three sisters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 502 Dicks Street, Sumter. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2019, 2 P. M., from the John Wesley Williams Sr. Memorial Chapel, Williams Funeral Home, Inc., 821 North Main Street, Sumter, with the Rev. Lue R. Conyers, Assistant Pastor at St. Paul A. M. E. Church/Shaw, Officiating, Eulogist. The funeral procession will leave from the home at 1:20 p. m. Burial will be in the Walker Cemetery, Oakland Avenue, Sumter.
