James Clark, 66, was called home from his labor to reward after a very brief illness on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital, Sumter . Born in Sumter County on June 14, 1952, he was the son of the late Joe Nick and Clarie Gregg Clark. James, who was known by close family members and friends as “Zeke” or “Pete” and his Santee Print co-workers as “Beaver”. Was educated in the public schools of Lee County and graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School, Class of 1971. Upon graduation he moved to Washington, DC and worked at Washington General Hospital. Later, he returned home and married his high school sweetheart, Deloris, affectionately known to many as “LoLo”. He was employed with Santee Print Works of Sumter for forty five years upon retirement. James was a member of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the Men Choir. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Deloris Phillis Hickman Clark; two daughters, Tanya (Darryl) Williams and Philene Colclough, both of Sumter; three brothers, Joseph (Patricia) Clark, Joseph Wells of Mayesville, Harry (Lois)Wells of Sumter; five sisters, Dorothy (Leroy) Toney of Elliott, Jessie Mae Peterson and Evelyn Conyers, both of St. Charles, Sadie Burroughs of Sumter, Linda Wilson of Charlotte, NC; seven grandchildren; five sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home from 2 – 8 p. m., 3275 Darlington Highway, Sumter. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 6, 2019, 12 noon at Unionville A. M. E. Church, 1330 Swimming Pen Road, Mayesville, with the Rev. Alvin E. Webb, pastor, the Rev. Franklin Garrett, pastor of Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church, presiding, and the Rev. Larry Clark (Nephew) eulogist. The Remains will be place in the church at 11 a. m. for viewing until the hour of service. The funeral procession will leave at 11:20 a. m. from the home. Burial will be in the Mt. Moriah Memorial Garden Cemetery, 1379 Swimming Pen Road, Mayesville.
