Thomasina Spencer Scott, 61, departed this life on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia. Born in Sumter, March 18, 1957, she was the wife of Paul Scott and the daughter of Queenie Spencer Kind and the late John Thomas Spencer, Sr. Tommy, as she was affectionately called, was reared in a Christian home and attended Joshua Baptist Church in her youth, where she was a member. She later relocated to Maryland, where she was a member of Hyattsville Baptist Church. Tommy was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Sumter High School, Class of 1975. After graduation, she attended Robert Institute of Hair Design, Langley Park, MD. She was a participant in The Jesus Family Reunion, the remix program demonstrating that loving God and your family are the greatest rewards. She was a loving wife and daughter. Tommy was the caregiver for her mother for the past three years. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband of 33 years; her mother; her brothers, John T. (Nicole) Spencer, Jr. of Hephzibah, GA; two sisters, Gladys (Jerome) Davis of Silver Springs, MD, Barbara A. Spencer of Capital Height, MD; a son, Derrick Scott; a grandson, Roval Crawford of High Point, N. C. six grandchildren; one great grandson; three uncles; seven aunts; one niece; two nephews; two grand niece; one grand nephew; four brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; a host of close cousins and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends at the home, 7 Neal Street, Sumter. Homegoing Services will be held Saturday, March 9, 2019, 12 noon, at Joshua Baptist Church, 5200 Live Oak Road, Dalzell, with the Rev. Eugene Dennis, Pastor, Eulogist. The Remains will be placed in the church at 11 a. m. for viewing until time of services. The funeral procession will leave at 11:15 a. m. from the home. Burial will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
